Illegal lotteries<\/p>\n

Don't bother to fight drugs, prostitution and gambling in
\nBandung. Why? Because illegal lotteries (togel) are rampant in
\nthe region, even during the fasting month. No one can stop this
\nform of illegal gambling. The Bandung regional administration and
\nthe police pretend not to know realize that togel is a form of
\ngambling and hence illegal. The Indonesian Council of Ulemas and
\nother religious institutions have yet to issue a ruling
\nconcerning togel.<\/p>\n
Even modern Islamic boarding schools, which are usually active
\nin fighting against illegal acts, simply remain quiet about the
\nissue as if in a dormant state.<\/p>\n
Just imagine, these togel, which are operated out in the open
\nand are obviously illegal, can't be eliminated. What can we
\nexpect the authorities to do about drugs, prostitution and
\ngambling, illegal activities that are more difficult to detect
\nand thus stop? What is going on here? Are all of the people
\nresponsible for dealing with these matters actually involved in
\nthem?<\/p>\n
This lack of seriousness and attention on the part of
\nbureaucrats, officials and spiritual leaders may eventually lead
\nto an enraged public. If we consider the matter further, this
\nlack of response from bureaucrats, officials and community
\nleaders will eventually become organized or institutionalized
\nprovocation, albeit unintentionally. So are they provocateurs?
\nPeople taking the law into their own hands is a crime, but it is
\na logical consequence of poor law enforcement and a lack of a
\nsense of justice.<\/p>\n
