        "content": "<p>JAKARTA - The practice of illegal levies in the Kapuk Kamal area,\nNorth Jakarta, continues to be rampant, burdening truck drivers passing\nthrough the route.<\/p>\n<p>Kompas.com\u2019s observations at the location on Tuesday (5\/5\/2026) from\n09.45 WIB revealed the practice occurring at several points while\ntraversing the area from Cengkareng towards Dadap.<\/p>\n<p>The first point was observed at the junction of the road from\nCengkareng towards Jalan Kapuk Kamal Raya. At least three people were\nseen in the middle of the intersection.<\/p>\n<p>The second point was at the junction of Jalan Kapuk Kamal Raya before\nthe bridge.<\/p>\n<p>One person was seen standing while directing traffic flow.<\/p>\n<p>At that point, he also collected money handed over by the\ndrivers.<\/p>\n<p>One truck driver, Fatih (not his real name), said that illegal levies\nare frequently encountered at junctions, crossroads, and road descent\nareas in the Kamal region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re unlucky, it can be Rp 200,000 for a single trip, not round\ntrip,\u201d he said when met at the location on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The amounts demanded vary, starting from Rp 2,000 to Rp 5,000 per\npoint.<\/p>\n<p>However, at night, the amount requested can reach Rp 30,000 to Rp\n50,000.<\/p>\n<p>Another driver, Ardi (45), stated that the practice does not occur at\njust one location but is spread across several points along Kapuk\nKamal.<\/p>\n<p>He added that although crackdowns have been carried out several\ntimes, the illegal levies re-emerge with different perpetrators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCaught today, tomorrow there will be others,\u201d he added.<\/p>",
