Illegal labor export probed<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): City police are continuing their investigation
\ninto two illegal attempts to send 10 Indonesian women to work in
\nSaudi Arabia and Brunei Darussalam last month.<\/p>\n
Chief of the Association of Labor Export Companies, Mahfut
\nDjaelani, said yesterday that five of the women, registered as
\nstaff of PT Damas, were to be flown to Saudi Arabia. The other
\nfive, which had been organized by an agent in Tanjung Priok,
\nNorth Jakarta, were to be flown to Brunei Darussalam. The 10
\nwomen were arrested by airport security staff on Nov. 2, Mahfut
\ntold The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
Police are still attempting to discover the whereabouts of the
\nunregistered company and agent. They are also looking for people
\nbelieved to have been involved in the unlawful labor export
\nscheme in Subang, West Java, and Cilacap, Central Java, the two
\nhometowns of the 10 women.<\/p>\n
The association is now arranging to dispatch the women to
\ntheir destinations through legal procedures.<\/p>\n
\"We won't let them be disappointed, for they have sacrificed
\ntheir property in their hometowns to pay the agents,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Djaelani said he had sent all of the women back to their
\nrespective hometowns to prepare their identity documentation and
\nother papers for immigration procedures. (03)<\/p>",
