        "content": "<p>Illegal kiosks, stalls destroyed<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The Bogor administration has continued to<br>\ndemolish buildings and stalls erected without official permits,<br>\nincluding makeshift kiosks.<\/p>\n<p>At least 10 kiosks erected along Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan and<br>\naround the Merdeka bus terminal were pulled down by officials<br>\nfrom the city public order office yesterday, Antara reported.<\/p>\n<p>Bogor Mayor Eddy Gunardi announced that his office would<br>\ncontinue to pull down any permanent or semi permanent buildings,<br>\nincluding stalls and kiosks built without the necessary building<br>\npermits.<\/p>\n<p>\"I will never give a reprieve to anyone found guilty of<br>\nerecting buildings without building permits issued by the city<br>\nadministration,\" Antara quoted the mayor as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Robin, an owner of one of the kiosks pulled down, admitted to<br>\nhaving erected his kiosk without a building permit.<\/p>\n<p>\"I fully realize that I'm wrong, but I hope the mayor could<br>\nprovide a new place where I and fellow traders whose stalls were<br>\ndemolished can set up new kiosks to sell our merchandise,\" he<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor strongly denied allegations that officials from the<br>\ncity public order office had acted arbitrarily in demolishing the<br>\nbuildings.<\/p>\n<p>\"The allegations are groundless,\" he said, adding that he was<br>\nready to face any lawsuit filed by any of the owners of the<br>\ndemolished buildings.<\/p>\n<p>\"I challenge people who are against the move to file lawsuits<br>\nagainst me. I'm not afraid,\" Eddy said, when asked if he was<br>\nundeterred by rumors that \"certain powerful people\" back the<br>\nowners of several buildings and kiosks.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor defended his subordinates who tore down the illegal<br>\nbuildings and kiosks, saying that they had carefully collected<br>\nfacts and evidence before deciding to pull down those buildings.<\/p>\n<p>\"I'm pretty sure that the officials have carefully and<br>\npolitely asked the building owners whether or not they have<br>\nbuilding permits.\"(bas)<\/p>",
