        "content": "<p>The Task Force for Law Enforcement against Smuggling from Bareskrim\nPolri\u2019s Dittipideksus unit has uncovered illegal importation practices\nof food commodities in Pontianak, West Kalimantan. In the operation,\npolice seized 23.1 tonnes of onions to dried chillies suspected of\nentering illegally.<\/p>\n<p>Bareskrim Polri\u2019s Dir Tipideksus Brigadier General Ade Safri\nSimanjuntak stated that officers raided two warehouse locations in the\nPontianak Selatan area of Pontianak City. The raids took place on Monday\n(13\/4).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaw enforcement actions have been taken against alleged criminal\nacts of smuggling in the form of illegal importation of food commodities\nin Pontianak City, West Kalimantan Province,\u201d said Ade Safri in his\nstatement on Tuesday (17\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Ade Safri detailed that the first location raided was at Jalan Budi\nKarya Number 5, Pontianak Selatan. There, officers found 10.35 tonnes of\nonions consisting of shallots, garlic, and yellow onions.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, at the second location in the Pontianak Square complex,\nofficers seized 12.79 tonnes of food commodities. In addition to various\ntypes of onions, police found thousands of kilograms of dried\nchillies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe total illegally imported food commodities found amounted to\n23,146 kilograms or 23.146 tonnes,\u201d Ade Safri explained.<\/p>\n<p>Based on clarifications from the warehouse owners, Ade Safri\ncontinued, the goods originated from various countries. Shallots came\nfrom Thailand, garlic and dried chillies from China, and onions from the\nNetherlands.<\/p>\n<p>Ade Safri mentioned that the dozens of tonnes of commodities are\nsuspected to have entered Indonesia via land routes from neighbouring\ncountries. \u201cThe smuggling or illegal importation of these food\ncommodities is suspected to have entered Indonesian territory through\nMalaysia,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, police have secured both warehouse locations. Ade Safri\nemphasised that his side is also hunting down the main suppliers of the\nillegal goods.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe shop owners or goods buyers purchased the illegally imported\nfood commodities from higher-level layers who are currently being\npursued,\u201d Ade Safri stressed.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, Bareskrim is coordinating with Perum Bulog Pontianak\nfor the safekeeping of the goods in their warehouse. On the other hand,\nthe Task Force is also monitoring three other locations in West\nKalimantan suspected to be storage sites for similar goods.<\/p>\n<p>Follow-up to the President\u2019s Orders<\/p>\n<p>The uncovering of this smuggling case is a follow-up to President\nPrabowo Subianto\u2019s orders regarding the prevention of smuggling, which\nharms the state finances. The orders were given by President Prabowo to\nTNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General\nListyo Sigit Prabowo, and Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur work is still heavy, the journey is still long, leaks still\noccur, smuggling still happens.
