        "content": "<p>The Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority is utilising the IKNOW\napplication as a digital reporting system to accelerate the handling of\nsettlement fires and forest and land fires (karhutla) in the IKN area\nduring the dry season. Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono\nstated in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, on\nFriday that the public can report fire indications through a panic\nbutton feature on the IKNOW application, which is connected to the\nNusantara Command Center. \u201cThe digital reporting system is used for\nhandling settlement fires and forest and land fires that have the\npotential to occur during the dry season,\u201d Basuki said. He explained\nthat incoming reports will be received in real-time by officers at the\nNusantara Command Center as part of an early warning system. \u201cProtection\nof forest areas is an important part of IKN development,\u201d he stated.\nMonitoring data from June 2026 showed that Kutai Kartanegara Regency,\nwhich lies within the IKN delineation area, recorded 40 hotspots, while\nNorth Penajam Paser Regency recorded no hotspots. Entering July 2026,\nthe number of hotspots in Kutai Kartanegara Regency increased to 46\npoints, while North Penajam Paser Regency remained at zero hotspots. The\nEast Kalimantan Provincial Government is also strengthening forest and\nland fire mitigation in the IKN area through collaboration with the\nMinistry of Forestry, district governments, the Meteorology,\nClimatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the National Search and\nRescue Agency (Basarnas), as well as the Indonesian National Armed\nForces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri). Head of the\nEast Kalimantan Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Buyung Dodi\nGunawan said that cross-agency coordination continues to be strengthened\nto anticipate potential forest and land fires during the dry season. In\naddition to strengthening coordination, the East Kalimantan BPBD has\nalso prepared a disaster standby team to support response efforts and\nmonitor the development of hotspots in the IKN area.<\/p>",
