JAKARTA - Panti Jompo Pusaka 41 Yayasan Al Madiniyah in Cengkareng\nTimur, West Jakarta, has operated for 33 years. The self-reliant\nfacility currently houses 40 elderly residents. Iis Ismawati, manager\nand head of the nursing home, said most residents are women. \u201cThere are\n30 grandmothers and 10 grandfathers here, aged between 60 and 97,\u201d she\nsaid on Friday 29 May 2026. Established in 1993, the home was initiated by Iis\u2019s late parents,\nwho were concerned about neglected seniors in Cengkareng. They began by\nrenting a building and handling necessary paperwork, while Iis, fresh\nfrom university, drafted funding proposals. \u201cWe submitted proposals to\nvarious institutions, leading to its establishment in 1993. We also\ncollaborate with the Social Affairs Office,\u201d Iis explained.<\/p>\n
Most residents are entrusted by their families due to economic or\nfamilial issues.
