The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) of the Indonesia Stock Exchange\n(IDX) experienced a significant decline on Thursday afternoon, falling\n86.97 points or 1.05 per cent, with the index closing at 8,235.26.<\/p>\n
This decline was largely triggered by market concerns over new\ntariffs from the United States.<\/p>\n
The IHSG moved negatively throughout the day, although it opened\nhigher. In the second trading session, the IHSG remained in the red\nuntil the market closed.<\/p>\n
In the sectors that experienced the largest decline, stocks related\nto the energy, logistics, and non-primary consumer goods sectors were\nthe most affected. Among the stocks that weakened the most today were\nINDS, SKBM, ARKO, BUVA, and KONI.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a number of stocks that showed an increase were MSKY,\nJAYA, DIVA, IFSH, and STAR, although overall the market was still filled\nwith concerns.<\/p>\n
The negative sentiment came from the announcement of new tariff\npolicies by the US Department of Commerce against countries that produce\nsolar panels, including Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The US decided to impose high import tariffs on solar cell and panel\nproducts from Indonesia, which had a direct impact on issuers in the\nenergy and logistics sectors. The tariff imposed on Indonesia is 104.38\nper cent, while local companies such as PT Blue Sky Solar and PT REC\nSolar Energy were each subject to much higher individual tariffs.<\/p>\n
According to Phintraco Sekuritas analyst, Ratna Lim, the tariff\npolicy added to existing uncertainty, worsening investor sentiment in\nthe domestic stock market.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough the IHSG had strengthened, this US tariff policy has\ntriggered a correction,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The volume of stock trading was recorded at 54.17 billion shares with\ntotal transactions reaching IDR 28.08 trillion. As many as 157 shares\nwere recorded as increasing, while 594 shares fell.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, the transportation and logistics sector recorded\nthe largest decline with a minus 2.60 per cent, followed by the\nnon-primary consumer goods and raw materials sectors, which fell 1.98\nper cent and 1.74 per cent, respectively.<\/p>\n
Although the IHSG experienced a decline, some analysts still see\npotential for certain stocks to hold or even rise. Based on the stronger\nsectors, such as energy and logistics, investors may see opportunities\nin the price retracement area. (Emtrade\/Ant\/Z-10)<\/p>\n
The IHSG closed lower today at 1.05 per cent to the level of\n8,235.26. Market participants are concerned about solar panel import\ntariffs and a fisheries sector investigation by the United States.<\/p>\n
