The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IHSG) opened significantly lower on Monday, dropping 1.94 per cent to the 5,486 level. This decline follows a broad-based sell-off across Asian markets and Wall Street, particularly impacting the technology and semiconductor sectors.

The IHSG opened 108 points or 1.94 per cent lower at the 5,486 level
at the start of trading on Monday, 8 June 2026. Fanny Suherman, Head of
Retail Research at BNI Sekuritas, predicted that the IHSG has the
potential to rebound during today’s session. “The IHSG could potentially
test support at the 5,450-5,500 level, and if it remains strong at that
support, a rebound is possible,” Suherman stated in his daily
research.

Asian markets were uniformly weak during Friday’s trading session.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 1.31 per cent, while the Topix declined slightly
by 0.07 per cent. Similarly, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng weakened by 1.15 per
cent, Taiwan’s Taiex dropped 1.33 per．and Australia’s ASX 200 corrected
by 0.70 per cent. Meanwhile, the FTSE Straits Times weakened by 0.35 per
cent, whereas the FTSE Malay KLCI managed to gain 0.60 per cent.

The decline in South Korea was driven by the downturn in Wall
Street’s technology stocks, with major players Samsung and SK Hynix
dropping by 13.9 per cent and 9.9 per cent respectively. Suherman noted
that the IHSG support level lies between 5,450-5,500, while resistance
is expected in the 5,680-5,800 range.

Wall Street indices closed significantly lower last Friday following
massive sell-offs in semiconductor and technology stocks.
