The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) is expected to trade variably on Monday as investors weigh a mix of global and domestic sentiment. Easing geopolitical risks in the Middle East are offset by concerns over US inflation after Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh said price pressures have not slowed meaningfully. Technical analysis suggests the index could strengthen if it holds above key support levels.

The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange
(BEI) is expected to move variably on Monday (31/8/2026). Market
participants are weighing a combination of global and domestic sentiment
that could influence the index’s movement.

The IHSG opened down 7.01 points, or 0.11 percent, at 6,511.11.
Meanwhile, the LQ45 index of 45 blue-chip stocks fell 1.11 points, or
0.17 percent, to 640.71.

Head of Research at Kiwoom Sekuritas Indonesia, Liza Camelia
Suryanata, said that technically the chance for IHSG strengthening
remains open as long as the index can hold above a certain support
level.

“As long as the IHSG can hold above the 6,357 area, the chance for
strengthening remains open to retest resistance at 6,551, before
continuing its rise towards 6,635 and 6,733. Conversely, if selling
pressure increases again and breaks through support at 6,454, the index
could correct towards 6,385-6,377 as its strong support,” said Liza
Camelia Suryanata in her research note in Jakarta on Monday.

From overseas, geopolitical risks in the Middle East have relatively
eased, particularly regarding concerns over oil supply disruptions.
Market participants increasingly view the Iran situation as a conflict
more focused on economic pressure and sanctions rather than a direct
threat to physical supply.

“The improvement in shipping flows through the Strait of Hormuz as
well as plans to develop the Iran-Oman corridor have also reduced the
risk premium on global energy supply,” said Liza.

On the other hand, a statement by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh,
who assessed that inflation has not shown meaningful slowdown, has
increased market participants’ concerns. This condition indicates that
the process of reducing price pressures still requires more time.
",
