The Indonesia Stock Exchange has launched the IDX Commodity 20, an index tracking 20 listed companies involved in commodity production or related supply chains. Selected according to liquidity and free-float market capitalisation, the index is intended to help investors and fund managers develop commodity-based investment strategies.

JAKARTA — The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has launched a new
index, the IDX Commodity 20 (IDXCMDTY20), which began being calculated
and distributed on Friday (30 October 2026). The index can serve as a
benchmark for investors and investment managers developing
commodity-based investment strategies.

“The IDX Commodity 20 Index measures the price performance of 20
listed companies engaged in commodity production or operating in
commodity industry supply chains. It covers energy, metals and minerals,
chemicals, forestry, agriculture and plantations, livestock, as well as
industries supporting commodity supply chains and downstream processing.
Shares are selected for the index on the basis of high trading liquidity
and free-float market capitalisation,” the IDX said in an official
statement on Friday (30 October 2026).

The IDX said that to qualify for inclusion in the index, shares must
have been listed on the exchange for at least six months and actively
traded during the previous six months. They must also fall within the
commodity-based industry classifications under the IDX Industrial
Classification (IDXIC).

“Shares on the High Shareholding Concentration (HSC) list, carrying a
special notation or included on the Special Monitoring Board during the
previous six months do not meet the initial screening criteria,” it
said.

From the shares that meet these requirements, the IDX selects the top
20 based on three factors: transaction value on the regular market over
the previous six months, regular-market transaction frequency over the
previous six months, and free-float market capitalisation over the same
period.

The IDX Commodity 20 uses the Capped Adjusted Free Float Market
Capitalisation Weighted method, which weights shares according to market
capitalisation adjusted for the free-float ratio. To prevent any one
share from dominating the index, the IDX has set a maximum weighting of
15 per cent for each share.

Weightings are adjusted during index reviews. The IDX Commodity 20
has been calculated retrospectively from its base date of 1 September
2021, with an initial value of 100.
",
