        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Pediatric Society (IDAI) is urging\nfor a trace of which areas are experiencing surges in cases, as well as\nthe mapping of influenza virus spread patterns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe feel it is necessary to learn more about the surges in influenza\ncases, especially Influenza A, which is certainly dangerous for certain\nhigh-risk groups,\u201d said the General Secretary of IDAI, Dr.\u00a0Hikari Ambara\nSjakti, during an online discussion in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to reports of rising influenza cases across various\nregions in Indonesia, Hikari noted that her monitoring confirms a surge\nin cases within paediatric wards in hospitals across major cities.\nHowever, she did not specify the exact locations or the total number of\ncases.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, such mapping would greatly assist medical personnel\nin providing appropriate care based on the symptoms and severity of the\npatients.<\/p>\n<p>Prof.\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Anggraini Alam, a member of the IDAI Coordination Working\nUnit for Tropical Disease Infections, added that according to data from\nthe WHO Western Pacific Regional Office (WHO WQPRO) as of 10 September\n2024, several Southeast Asian countries have experienced an increase in\ninfluenza cases.<\/p>\n<p>Anggraini noted that cases in Singapore have fluctuated between 24\nand 37 per cent over recent weeks, accompanied by high numbers of\npositive COVID-19 cases.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know that people working in urban areas require business travel\nto Singapore, which serves as a cause for the overall surge,\u201d said\nAnggrainini.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in Vietnam, cases surged from 7 per cent to 20 per\ncent.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, she stated that, according to the Ministry of Health,\nthere has not yet been an alarming surge within Indonesia\u2019s\nterritory.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, she urged all parties to maintain heightened vigilance,\nespecially for children, as Indonesia possesses airports that serve as\nentry points and gathering hubs for people from all over the world,\nincreasing the risk of wider virus transmission.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately 5 per cent of children require hospitalisation.\nFurthermore, 80 per cent of cases were found in children under the age\nof two, with 50 per cent of those being under six months of age.<\/p>\n<p>Anggrainini noted that children under the age of five face a higher\nmortality rate.<\/p>",
