ICF defends selectors Perth Festival<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The Indonesian Cricket Foundation (ICF) defended its
\nBoard of Selectors who named members of Indonesia's first ever
\ncricket team for the 2002 East Asia Cricket Eights Festival to be
\nheld in Perth, Australia.<\/p>\n
\"We have received many letters of complaint from disappointed
\nexpatriate players after we announced the national cricketers for
\nthe Perth tour,\" ICF chairman Alan Wilson told The Jakarta Post
\nin a written statement on Monday.<\/p>\n
\"We wish to congratulate our Board of Selectors chairman, Ray
\nElliott, who successfully completing the difficult task of
\nchoosing this first ever squad of 10 players,\" he added.<\/p>\n
The board of selectors, which included Raymund Shakespeare and
\nMartin Eddy, has named Cameron Knox, David Herbert and Srikanth
\nto accompany seven national cricketers.<\/p>\n
\"The selection was based on players' minimum proven residence
\nof five years here and their capability of teamwork and mentoring
\nthe seven Indonesian national players,\" said Wilson.<\/p>\n
\"They have also proven their ability based on a history of
\nsound play as well as being representative of the main
\nnationality groupings in the Jakarta Cricket Association.\"<\/p>\n
The Jakarta contingent will travel to Bali on Thursday for a
\nday of team training. The team travels to Perth for their first
\nmatch against the Aboriginal Australian side on the morning of
\nFeb. 25. This will be the first ever official international
