        "content": "<p>Deputy Speaker of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly Edhie Baskoro\n\u2018Ibas\u2019 Yudhoyono has urged the public to be more aware of the need to\nprocess waste in order to preserve the environment. He stressed that\nwaste management is not merely a matter of cleanliness, but a collective\nmovement to safeguard environmental sustainability, public health, and\neven to drive the economy. \u2018If we do not start thinking about integrated\nwaste management that prioritises cleanliness, health, and\nsustainability, then who will?\u2019 Ibas said in a statement received in\nJakarta on Sunday. He highlighted the waste management practices at the\nSidomakmur Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (TPS 3R) facility in Sidoharjo\nVillage, Pacitan Regency, East Java, where household waste is turned\ninto useful products. The Sidomakmur TPS 3R facility processes around\nfive tonnes of waste daily. Its operations are run independently by 14\npeople, most of whom are members of the local youth organisation and\nother young people. The waste processing does not stop at sorting.\nOrganic waste is processed into organic fertiliser and maggots used as\nfeed for catfish farming, which in turn supports the supply chain for\nthe Free Nutritious Meals programme, while inorganic waste is repurposed\ninto various economically valuable products. According to Ibas, such\ninnovation is part of developing a circular economy that can be further\nadvanced towards waste-to-energy utilisation and other environmentally\nfriendly innovations. \u2018I am proud because many young people are not\nembarrassed to get involved in waste processing. They are protecting the\nenvironment while also earning an income and improving their welfare,\u2019\nhe said. He therefore invited the entire community to make a culture of\ncleanliness part of the national character. \u2018Let us build a culture of\ncleanliness and health as part of our national character. The Javanese\nhave a very good saying, \u2019Resik kuwi sehat, sehat kuwi berkah.\u2019\nCleanliness is health, health is a blessing,\u2019 he said.<\/p>",
