Deputy Speaker of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Edhie\nBaskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) has encouraged the Badan Kontak Majelis Taklim\n(BKMT) to strengthen its social role and champion women\u2019s aspirations\nthrough communication and collaboration with parliament.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis means that BKMT\u2019s aspirations have many doors through which\nthey can be fought for in parliament. Our task is to make those doors\ninterconnected,\u201d Ibas said in his statement in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n
Ibas made the remarks during a national gathering with the BKMT\nCentral Board in Jakarta on Wednesday (26\/8), which discussed a number\nof issues relating to community needs.<\/p>\n
According to Ibas, BKMT\u2019s aspirations cover the fields of education,\nhealth, women\u2019s empowerment, social protection, MSMEs, the people\u2019s\neconomy, and family resilience.<\/p>\n
He assessed that BKMT possesses social capital through its network of\nmajelis taklim in various regions, which can be developed to support\ncommunity empowerment and broaden the benefits of government\nprogrammes.<\/p>\n
\u201cBKMT is a place where knowledge meets service. A place where women\nmeet strength. Therefore, we must be ready to synergise and ready to\ncollaborate,\u201d said Ibas.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is not merely a formal meeting. This is a meeting of hearts.\nThis is a national gathering. More importantly, this is an opportunity\nto listen to one another, to strengthen one another, and to think\ntogether about what we can do for Indonesia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Several members of the Democratic Party faction in the House of\nRepresentatives (DPR RI) then put forward ideas for collaboration in\nline with their respective areas of work.<\/p>\n
Member of Commission VIII of the DPR RI Nanang Samodra offered the\ninvolvement of women and female religious teachers (ustazah) within\nmajelis taklim circles as halal certification facilitators for MSME\nactors.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe women of the majelis taklim have the opportunity to become halal\nfacilitators, helping MSME communities process their halal certification\nthrough self-declaration,\u201d said Nanang.<\/p>\n
\u201cQuranic teachers are among the informal workers whom we can\nfacilitate. The contributions are affordable, but the scope of\nprotection is highly beneficial in the event of a work accident,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Member of Commission X of the DPR RI Bramantyo Suwondo saw\nopportunities for cooperation in the fields of education, Islamic\noutreach (dakwah), and the development of halal tourism.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the country with the largest Muslim majority, the focal point of\nhalal tourism should be in Indonesia. This is something we can work on\ntogether,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Member of Commission XI of the DPR RI Marwan Cik Hasan\nemphasised strengthening the family economy through MSMEs and\ncooperatives.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe strengthen their spirituality and faith, but we also strengthen\ntheir economy,\u201d said Marwan.<\/p>\n
\u201cBKMT\u2019s voice must continue to be conveyed. We will ensure that its\naspirations, views, and input become part of the effort to realise the\ngoals of the state: to protect the entire nation, to advance the general\nwelfare, and to enlighten the life of the nation,\u201d said Ibas.<\/p>\n
He invited BKMT to strengthen collaboration and deliver more\nsolutions for the community.<\/p>\n
