        "content": "<p>The DKI Jakarta High Court has increased the sentence of corruption\ndefendant Ibrahim Arief, also known as Ibam, in the case involving the\nprocurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device Management (CDM).\nThe appellate judges increased Ibam\u2019s sentence from four years to five\nyears in prison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSentencing the Defendant Ibrahim, also known as Ibam, to five years\nin prison and a fine of Rp 500 million,\u201d the judge stated while reading\nthe verdict at the DKI Jakarta High Court in Cempaka Putih, Central\nJakarta, on Monday (31\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>If the fine is not paid, it will be replaced by 140 days in prison.\nIbam was previously sentenced to four years in prison and was not\nordered to pay restitution. Now, the judges have imposed a replacement\npayment of Rp 5 billion on Ibam.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSentencing the Defendant to pay a replacement amount of Rp 5\nbillion,\u201d the judge stated.<\/p>\n<p>If the payment is not made, his assets will be seized and auctioned.\nThe judge stated that if Ibam\u2019s assets are insufficient, the sentence\nwill be replaced by four years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>For context, former Information Technology Consultant at the Ministry\nof Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Ibrahim Arief, also\nknown as Ibam, was sentenced to four years in prison in the corruption\ncase involving the procurement of Chromebook laptops and Chrome Device\nManagement (CDM), which also implicated former Minister Nadiem Anwar\nMakarim.
