        "content": "<p>Hyundai breaks monopoly<\/p>\n<p>SEOUL (AFP): South Korean industrial giant Hyundai Group<br>\nyesterday obtained approval from a provincial government to jump<br>\ninto the country's monopolized and state-controlled steel<br>\nindustry, the group said.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai Group chairman Chung Mong-Koo signed an agreement with<br>\nthe governor of Kyungnam province, who allowed the group to build<br>\na major steel mill in Hadong, near the hometown of President Kim<br>\nYoung-Sam.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement, however, bypassed the central Seoul government,<br>\nwhich has rejected Hyundai's ambitious drive to break the state<br>\nmonopoly in the lucrative industry.<\/p>\n<p>In parliament last week, Trade and Industry Minister Lim<br>\nChang-Yeul repeated that Seoul objected to Hyundai's steel mill<br>\nproject.<\/p>",
