Hydropower plant damaged<\/p>\n
BENGKULU, Bengkulu: The local office of the state electricity
\ncompany, PLN, has announced there will be power blackouts in
\nparts of the province in the next few months.<\/p>\n
The blackouts will occur on a rotating basis pending
\ncompletion of repairs to the main hydropower plant which was
\ndamaged by the floods last weekend.<\/p>\n
Hadi Sunyoto, head of the local PLN office, said two of the
\nfour turbines at the power plant at Tes Lake were knocked out of
\noperation by the floods, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
The Tes power plant has a capacity of 16 MW of electricity.<\/p>\n
Power cuts on a rotating basis have to be affected for the
\nduration of the repair which could take a month, he said.<\/p>\n
The cuts will occur between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., he added.
