The Directorate General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of\nTransportation has announced that Husein Sastranegara Airport in\nBandung, West Java, is scheduled to resume operations on 17 September\n2026, based on readiness reports submitted by Angkasa Pura. \u201cInformation\nfrom Angkasa Pura for Husein Sastranegara Airport Bandung is that they\nhave prepared for operations on 17 September,\u201d said Director General\nLukman F. Laisa in Jakarta on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Lukman stated that the Ministry of Transportation, together with\nAngkasa Pura (InJourney Airports), has conducted inspections of the\nairport\u2019s condition to ensure operational readiness before its\nreopening. The review results indicate that Husein Airport currently\nonly serves flights using propeller aircraft, necessitating several\nadjustments before it can resume serving jet aircraft.<\/p>\n
According to him, one of the steps being taken is upgrading the\nAviation Accident Rescue and Fire Fighting (PKP-PK) category from\ncategory five to category seven to meet the operational standards for\njet aircraft. Additionally, the runway surface will be repaired through\npavement overlay, as it has not been used for jet aircraft operations\nfor some time.<\/p>\n
The Ministry of Transportation is also preparing improvements to\nvarious support systems at the airport, including the baggage handling\nsystem, X-ray screening, and lighting systems, to ensure all facilities\nmeet safety standards. On the operational side, the Ministry has\nprepared notification letters to all stakeholders regarding the plan to\nresume Husein Sastranegara Airport\u2019s operations for jet aircraft\nservices.<\/p>\n
Lukman added that the government is currently mapping out route\ndistribution and awaiting proposals from airlines regarding the\ndestinations they wish to serve before finalising an operational plan\naccording to market needs. \u201cWe are currently dividing the routes and we\nwill look at the demand from the airlines regarding which routes they\nwant. Once there is demand, we can then create a plan for operations\naccording to the existing conditions,\u201d said Lukman.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Persero), or InJourney\nAirports, is accelerating the operational readiness of Husein\nSastranegara Airport to support the optimisation of domestic and\ninternational flights in Bandung, West Java.
