        "content": "<p>Hundreds of students in Siantan Tengah subdistrict, Anambas Islands\nRegency, Riau, are suspected to have experienced poisoning after\nconsuming free nutritious meals (MBG) served by the local nutrition\nfulfilment service unit (SPPG) on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Acting Head of the Health, Population Control and Family Planning\nOffice, Feri Oktavia, stated that the students began showing symptoms a\nfew hours after eating the food.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter eating the meal served by the SPPG in Siantan Tengah, a few\nhours later the students experienced nausea and vomiting. They were then\nimmediately taken to health facilities,\u201d Feri told Tempo on Thursday, 16\nApril 2026.<\/p>\n<p>She explained that the victims came from various educational levels,\nfrom early childhood education (PAUD), kindergarten (TK), primary school\n(SD) to junior high school (SMP) in the Siantan Tengah subdistrict area.\nAdditionally, there were also affected adults and elderly\nindividuals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndeed, there are also groups of adults or elderly who were\naffected, because they consumed MBG brought home by their children or\ngrandchildren,\u201d she clarified.<\/p>\n<p>The victims received treatment at two health facilities, namely the\nSiantan Tengah Community Health Centre (Puskesmas) and Palmatak General\nHospital (RSUD). Based on preliminary data up to now, the number of\npatients treated at RSUD Palmatak reached 114 people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf that number, 110 people have been allowed to go home, while four\npeople are still under care,\u201d said Feri.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, at the Siantan Tengah Puskesmas, 41 people received\nmedical treatment. 39 patients have been discharged, while the other two\nare still undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Feri added that the majority of patients came with the same\ncomplaints, namely nausea and vomiting. They then underwent examinations\nand received treatment according to their respective conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatients come to the puskesmas or hospital with symptoms of nausea\nand vomiting, then are examined and given medication,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>To date, the exact cause of the incident is still under investigation\nby the relevant parties. Preliminary suspicions point to the MBG served\nby the SPPG Siantan Tengah. \u201cThe cause is still being examined,\u201d she\nsaid.<\/p>",
