        "content": "<p>Humpuss Intermoda sees higher revenue, profits<\/p>\n<p>The Jakarta Post, Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>Despite higher operational costs and sharp fluctuations in the<br>\nvalue of the rupiah, shipping firm PT Humpuss Intermoda<br>\nTransportasi expects a 25 percent increase in profit next year by<br>\nboosting efficiency and the number of vessels in its fleet.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The fuel price hike and rupiah fluctuation against the U.S.<br>\ndollar have pushed up operational costs by 60 percent,&quot; president<br>\ndirector Teguh Arya Putra said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;We&apos;re setting up strategies, including buying another 10<br>\nboats next year to increase revenue and productivity. The boats<br>\nwill engage in delivering chemical products, coal, as well as in<br>\nthe container transporting sector,&quot; he added.<\/p>\n<p>The new ships, which will lift the number of the firm&apos;s<br>\nvessels to 40, will cost about US$70 million.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;With these efforts, the company expects to increase revenue<br>\nfrom about Rp 800 billion this year to Rp 1.1 trillion in next<br>\nyear.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Profits are expected to reach Rp 200 billion next year, from<br>\nRp 160 billion this year,&quot; Teguh added.<\/p>\n<p>To reduce costs, starting next year the company would have its<br>\nships undergo maintenance in China or Vietnam, instead of the<br>\nmore expensive Singapore and Japan -- where the company usually<br>\nsend its boats.<\/p>\n<p>Vessels usually undergo maintenance checks once every<br>\ntwo years.<\/p>\n<p>Teguh also said the company would explore the possibility of<br>\nserving more offshore routes to help it increase its dollar<br>\nrevenues.<\/p>",
