        "content": "<p>The rapidly growing humanoid robot industry in China is not only a\nsignificant outcome of the government\u2019s innovation-based development\nstrategy but is also triggering a new trend among China\u2019s youth:\nhumanoid robot study tours. For young students across the country, such\nprogrammes are quickly becoming an attractive new option for\nout-of-classroom learning, transforming education from passive classroom\nsettings into direct interaction with real-world industrial\ntechnology.<\/p>\n<p>Beijing is at the forefront of this trend. On 16 May, the Shijingshan\nDistrict launched a technology study tour programme at the local\nHumanoid Robot Data Training Centre, which integrates elements of\nculture, tourism, technology, industry, and creativity to provide an\nimmersive educational experience. The training centre, the largest of\nits kind in China, spanning over 10,000 square metres and producing more\nthan 6 million data samples annually, invites students to act as \u2018intern\ntrainers\u2019 by participating in data collection and direct robot\ncontrol.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the capital, other technology hubs offer unique experiences.\nIn Hangzhou, the home of Unitree Robotics, students explore technology\nin creative environments. An embodied robot exploration centre at a\nlocal marine park combines marine-themed exhibitions with over 300\nadvanced robots, allowing students to operate robot dogs, compete in\nrobot football, and interact with AI-based companions.<\/p>\n<p>In Shenzhen, a national innovation hub and base for EngineAI\nRobotics, study tours reach a deeper level. The \u2018Children\u2019s Eyes on\nSmart Manufacturing\u2019 initiative features 80 cutting-edge industrial\ntourism sites covering AI, robotics, and semiconductors. A pioneering\npartnership between STEMHUB, a local platform focused on advanced STEM\neducation, and EngineAI Robotics has introduced the SA01 humanoid robot\ninto K-12 classrooms, alongside the development of STEM courses that\nallow students to programme and interact directly with the robots.<\/p>\n<p>This surge in educational activities is a direct result of China\u2019s\nmaturing humanoid robotics sector. According to China\u2019s National\nDevelopment and Reform Commission (NDRC), the embodied intelligence\nsector, exemplified by humanoid robots, is growing at an annual rate of\nover 50 per cent and is projected to reach a market value of over 1\ntrillion yuan (approximately $146.66 billion) by 2035. Official data\nshows that by the end of 2025, China will host over 150 humanoid robot\ncompanies. The Chinese government has elevated embodied intelligence to\na national strategic priority, with policies aimed at accelerating\nbreakthroughs in core technologies and establishing industry\nstandards.<\/p>\n<p>However, an industry driven by cutting-edge innovation cannot thrive\nwithout a future-ready workforce, which has pushed science and\ntechnology (S&amp;T) education to the top of the national policy agenda.\nIn November 2025, China\u2019s Ministry of Education, alongside six other\ngovernment departments, issued a notice on strengthening S&amp;T\neducation in primary and secondary schools, marking the first official\npolicy document to introduce the concept of S&amp;T education into\nChina\u2019s basic education system. The document explicitly states that\nstrengthening S&amp;T education is a vital path to supporting the\ninnovation-driven national development strategy and nurturing future\nS&amp;T innovation talent. It sets clear targets: by 2030, China aims to\nbuild a comprehensive S&amp;T education system, and by 2035, a complete\nS&amp;T education ecosystem will be established, with enhanced social\nresource support and the widespread adoption of project-based,\ninquiry-based, and interdisciplinary learning.<\/p>\n<p>With the government encouraging social resources to support\nproject-based learning and the private sector investing heavily in\nrobotics, humanoid robot study tours are well-positioned to become\nflagship programmes in China\u2019s youth education landscape. In Shanghai,\nlocal S&amp;T interest groups visited the city\u2019s humanoid robot\ninnovation incubator in early May, where they shook hands with humanoid\nrobots, played \u2018rock-paper-scissors\u2019 against robotic hands, completed\nvisual tracking challenges, and witnessed intelligent robot dogs running\nand responding to commands outdoors.<\/p>",
