Human resources vital<\/p>\n
It was a pleasure to read in The Jakarta Post of Aug. 3 that
\nIndonesia was at the threshold of a \"demographic dividend\" when
\nits dependency ratio is at its lowest (RI will benefit from
\ndemographic dividend: Expert).<\/p>\n
Indonesia is a country very rich in natural resources, but it
\nis the human resources of a nation that are considered the prime
\nresources. Therefore, it is imperative that the population must
\nconsist of \"men\/women of quality\". And what makes it? A good
\neducation which is not class biased, which is standardized, which
\nprovides a scientific and technological base, which inculcates a
\ngood work attitude, and which makes people socially, culturally,
\nand politically aware.<\/p>\n
Any nation where the juvenile population is not vocationally
\ntrained is like a smoldering volcano, a nation of angry, restless
\nand frustrated people who can create political instability and
\ncan cause cultural and social unrest.<\/p>\n
At this demographically historical moment, the nation must
\nendeavor to make people economically productive by providing them
\nwith vocational education so that there can be substantial value
\naddition in all sectors. Therefore, no expenditure in the field
\nof education can be considered enough. As a matter of fact, it
\nwill be the best investment of the nation. All that is needed now
\nis a vision, a determination and a commitment.<\/p>\n
