Howard to visit Indonesia<\/p>\n
SYDNEY Australia (AFP): Australian Prime Minister John Howard
\nhas announced that he will visit Indonesia for talks with
\nPresident Soeharto next month, his second trip to Indonesia in
\nlittle more than a year.<\/p>\n
Howard will make a stopover in Jakarta on Oct. 29 on his
\nreturn from the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM)
\nin Edinburgh from Oct. 24 to Oct. 27.<\/p>\n
The Jakarta visit, which will focus on the upcoming Asia
\nPacific Economic Cooperation summit in Vancouver in late
\nNovember, underscores the high priority given by Canberra to
\nrelations with its nearest Asian neighbor.<\/p>\n
"I look forward to the opportunity to continue the very good
\ndiscussions that President Soeharto and I began during my first
\noverseas visit in September last year," Howard said in a
\nstatement on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
During CHOGM, Howard will address a Commonwealth business
\nforum being held to coincide with the summit, which has a trade,
\ninvestment and development theme this year.<\/p>\n
"I hope that it will contribute to maintaining the momentum of
\nglobal trade and investment liberalization," he said.<\/p>",
