Blood type data on electronic ID cards (KTP-el) can now be updated\nwithout the need to visit a Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil)\noffice in person. The Directorate General of Dukcapil of the Ministry of\nHome Affairs (Kemendagri) provides this data amendment service through\nthe Digital Population Identity (IKD) application.<\/p>\n
This service is intended to complete the population data of citizens,\nincluding blood type information that remains blank or requires\nupdating. However, the public must still meet certain requirements\nbefore submitting a data change request.<\/p>\n
Requirements for Updating Blood Type Data on\nKTP-el<\/strong><\/p>\n The Deputy Head of the Technical Team for Resident Identity at the\nDirectorate of Population Registration and Civil Registry\n(PPPS\/Dafdukcapil) of the Directorate General of Dukcapil, Sesario\nFernandes, stated that citizens must possess medical examination\nevidence to change their blood type data. This document must originate\nfrom an official healthcare facility or the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI).\nMedical proof is the primary requirement to ensure that the data entered\ninto the population database matches the medical examination\nresults.<\/p>\n \u201cBlood type is important data, especially in medical emergencies.\nUnfortunately, many KETP-el have blank blood type columns because the\nupdate process was considered cumbersome. Now, we have made it easier\nthrough IKD,\u201d said Sesario in Jakarta on Wednesday (2\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n He emphasised that blood type data cannot be changed based solely on\nthe applicant\u2019s claim without proof of examination. \u201cWe still require\nofficial medical evidence so that the data entered into the population\ndatabase is accurate. This concerns safety, so there can be no arbitrary\nclaims of blood type without a basis of examination,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n How to Update KTP-el Blood Type via IKD<\/strong><\/p>\n Once medical examination results are obtained, citizens can submit a\ndata change request through the IKD application. The submission process\nis conducted digitally, so applicants do not need to bring physical\ndocuments to the Dukcapult office.<\/p>\n The steps are as follows:<\/p>\n Open the Digital Population Identity (IKD) application.<\/p><\/li>\n Select the \u2018Pelayanan\u2019 (Service) menu.<\/p><\/li>\n Select the \u2018Perubahan Golongan Darah WNI\u2019 (Change of Indonesian\nCitizen Blood Type) service.<\/p><\/li>\n Adjust the blood type data based on the medical examination\nresults.<\/p><\/li>\n Fill out the digital application form.<\/p><\/li>\n Upload the blood type examination results as a supporting\ndocument.<\/p><\/li>\n Submit the application for processing and verification by\nDukcapil officers.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Sesario noted that the entire process can be completed from home.\nCitizens only need to photograph or scan the medical examination results\nto be uploaded through the application.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is very practical because everything can be completed from home.\nCitizens just need to photo or scan their blood type check results,\nupload them to the system, and it is done. There is no longer any excuse\nto take leave from work or set aside special time to visit the Dukcapil\noffice,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Application Status Can Be Monitored via the\nApplication<\/strong><\/p>\n In addition to digital submission, citizens can also monitor the\nprogress of their application through the monitoring feature in the IKD\napplication. With this feature, applicants can track the verification\nprocess conducted by officers without having to visit the Dukcapil\noffice or contact officers to enquire about the progress of their\nfiles.<\/p>\n \u201cCitizens can monitor it themselves through the monitoring feature in\nthe application. This provides certainty; there is no need to call\nrepeatedly or visit the office just to ask about the progress of the\nfiles,\u201d explained Sesario.<\/p>\n If the application is approved by Dukcapil officers, the blood type\ndata will be updated in the population database. This information will\nthen be reflected in the issuance of the next ID card.<\/p>\n Basic Requirement: Applicant\u2019s IKD Must Be\nActive<\/strong><\/p>\n The blood type change service via IKD can only be used by citizens\nwho already have an active IKD application. For citizens who have not\nyet activated IKD, the activation process must be completed first.\nActivation includes registration using NIK, email address, and an active\nmobile number, facial verification, and scanning a QR code in the\npresence of Dukcapil or sub-district officers.<\/p>\n \u201cOnce IKD is active, all elements of population data that require\nupdating, including blood type, can be managed through the same single\napplication.
