Required Documents<\/strong><\/p>\n The regulations for processing birth certificates essentially apply\nto all residents, including the elderly who lack the document.<\/p>\n \u201cThe requirements are the same, whether for a newborn baby or an\nelderly person newly applying for a birth certificate,\u201d stated\nArmansyah, Deputy Chairman of the Technical Team for Facilitating Birth\nand Death Registration at the Directorate General of Dukcapil,\nKemendagri, on Monday (14\/09\/2026).<\/p>\n To process a birth certificate, residents can visit the Dukcapil\nOffice corresponding to their domicile, bringing several supporting\ndocuments. These include the parents\u2019 marriage book or marriage\ncertificate, a birth certificate\/statement, and the Family Card (KK) or\nElectronic Identity Card (KTP-el).<\/p>\n However, for elderly citizens, some of these documents may no longer\nbe available. For instance, parents may have passed away, marriage books\nmay have been lost, or birth statements may be unavailable.<\/p>\n In such circumstances, certain documents can be replaced with a\nStatement of Absolute Responsibility (SPTJM) in accordance with\napplicable regulations. Thus, obstacles regarding the completeness of\nold documents can still be processed through the administrative\nmechanisms provided by Dukpenduk.<\/p>\n Where to Process the Application?<\/strong><\/p>\n Birth certificate processing can be conducted based on the resident\u2019s\ndomicile address. This means citizens do not need to process the\ndocument in their place of birth.<\/p>\n \u201cWhere can birth certificates be processed? It can be handled\naccording to the domicile address. Domicile refers to the address listed\non the KTP-el or Family Card,\u201d said Armansyah.<\/p>\n Under these provisions, elderly individuals born in other regions can\nstill apply for birth registration in their current place of residence.\nCitizens simply need to follow the administrative requirements set by\nthe local Dukcapil office.<\/p>\n Do Not Ignore Birth Registration<\/strong><\/p>\n Armansyah emphasised that the issue of missing old documents should\nnot prevent citizens from pursuing birth registration. The public still\nhas the opportunity to ensure their birth events are officially recorded\nin the civil administration.<\/p>\n For elderly individuals who do not yet have a birth certificate, the\napplication can be made by following the Dukcapil regulations according\nto their domicile.
