        "content": "<p>Police have explained the method used by perpetrators to steal the\nbag of a Chinese national using the \u2018bag-sliding\u2019 modus operandi at a\nmall in the Hegarmukti area, Central Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java. The\nperpetrators acted when the victim was distracted from their\nbelongings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on preliminary investigations, the suspects are believed to\nhave used a method known as \u2018bag-sliding\u2019,\u201d said the Head of Criminal\nInvestigation of Bekasi Metro Police, AKBP Jerico Lavian Chandra, on\nSunday (4\/10\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis involves taking bags or belongings of visitors placed on tables\nor chairs when the owner\u2019s attention is diverted,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Police arrested several individuals during the investigation.\nFollowing examinations, the police subsequently named four individuals\nas suspects.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRegarding this case, investigators are applying Article 476 of Law\nNumber 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Four People Arrested<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Previously, Bekasi Metro Police, in collaboration with the Criminal\nInvestigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim Polri),\nuncovered the theft involving the \u2018bag-sliding\u2019 method targeting a\nChinese national at a mall in the Hegarmukti area, Central Cikarang,\nBekasi, West Java. Four people were arrested in the operation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this disclosure, Unit III Jatanras of the Bekasi Metro Police\nCriminal Investigation Unit, collaborating with Unit II of the Bareskrim\nPolri Criminal Investigation Unit, secured four individuals suspected of\ninvolvement in the theft against a Chinese national victim,\u201d said the\nHead of Criminal Investigation of Bekasi Metro Police, AKBP Jerico\nLavian Chandra.<\/p>\n<p>The disclosure was a follow-up to public reports regarding the theft\nthat occurred on 26 September 2026. Footage of the incident had been\ncirculating on social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe joint team conducted a series of investigations, visiting the\ncrime scene, gathering evidence, examining CCTV footage, and identifying\nthe characteristics of the individuals and vehicles suspected to have\nbeen used in the crime,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the investigation results, police suspected the perpetrators\nwere located in the Purwakarta area. The team then conducted a pursuit\nto the KM 88B Rest Area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Thursday, 1 October 2026, at approximately 08:00 WIB, officers\nfound several individuals matching the characteristics identified in the\ninvestigation. Four people were subsequently detained for further\nexamination and in-depth investigation,\u201d he stated.<\/p>",
