Charging a Wuling Air EV at home in Indonesia costs less than Rp50,000 for a full charge, even for the Long Range variant, based on PLN electricity tariffs for the July–September 2026 period. Factoring in charging losses of 10–15%, the estimated energy cost is around Rp125–Rp160 per kilometre, significantly cheaper than conventional city cars. Wall charger installation adds a one-off cost starting from Rp6.8 million for the unit alone, or around Rp14 million for a complete package including installation and PLN power adjustment.

Electric vehicle (EV) ownership in Indonesia is increasing with the
arrival of efficient compact models. One of the most common questions
for prospective Wuling Air ev owners is how much it costs to charge the
battery at home. Based on operational data and PLN electricity tariffs
for the July–September 2026 period, the charging cost for this electric
car is very economical compared with conventional vehicles.

The Wuling Air ev marketed in Indonesia comes with two battery
capacity options that determine driving range and charging duration. For
AC charging from 20% to 100%, the Standard Range variant takes about 4.8
hours, while the Long Range variant takes about 7.2 hours.

The government has kept PLN non-subsidised customer electricity
tariffs stable for the August 2026 period. The charging cost depends
heavily on the power rating of the electricity connection at home. The
following is a simulation of the 0–100% charging cost based on battery
capacity (theoretical).

In practice, the energy drawn from the PLN meter does not enter the
battery cells at 100% efficiency. There is energy loss, or charging
loss, of around 10% to 15% caused by heat in the cables, the AC-to-DC
conversion system, and the vehicle cooling system during charging.

Taking this energy loss into account, the estimated real cost that
will appear on your electricity bill for a 0–100% charge is as follows.
In other words, Rp50,000 is still enough to fully charge even the
highest variant of the Wuling Air ev from empty.

Converted into a cost per kilometre based on the claimed CLTC range
and including a charging loss margin, the Wuling Air ev only incurs an
energy cost of around Rp125 to Rp160 per kilometre. This figure is far
cheaper than an internal combustion engine (ICE) city car, which on
average requires fuel costs above Rp800–Rp1,000 per kilometre.

Important note: Actual driving range may vary depending on driving
style, air conditioning use, vehicle load, and road conditions.

In addition to routine electricity costs, owners also need to
consider the cost of installing charging equipment. Based on information
as of August 2026, Wuling Motors offers a wall charger unit starting
from Rp6.8 million for the unit alone. Meanwhile, a complete package
that includes installation and PLN power adjustment is offered at around
Rp14 million. This price may vary depending on dealer policy and the
consumer’s area of residence.

The Wuling Air ev offers highly competitive energy cost efficiency
for daily use. With a full home charging cost of no more than Rp50,000
for its longest-range variant, this electric car is a wallet-friendly
transport solution amid fluctuating fuel prices.
",
