The Indonesian government has designated 27 May 2026 as a national holiday for Eid al-Adha 1447 H, with 28 May as a collective leave day, creating a two-day break that can extend into a long weekend if additional leave is taken on 29 May. This scheduling, outlined in the Joint Decree of Three Ministers on National Holidays and Collective Leave for 2026, allows citizens to plan family gatherings and rest, aligning with the spiritual significance of the holiday commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's sacrifice. The full 2026 holiday calendar includes observances for various religious and national events, promoting work-life balance across diverse communities.

Eid al-Adha is one of the important moments eagerly awaited by
Muslims around the world. This celebration is rich in meaning regarding
sacrifice and sincerity, thus holding deep spiritual value for
Muslims.

In the book Fiqh of Qurban by Muhammad Ikhwanuddin et al., it is
explained that Eid al-Adha is a holiday that falls on the 10th of Dhu
al-Hijjah to commemorate the sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim AS. On that
day, Muslims perform Eid al-Adha prayers and slaughter sacrificial
animals as a form of worship.

As an important day for Muslims, Eid al-Adha is allocated national
holidays and collective leave by the government. The list of national
holidays and collective leave for Eid al-Adha is included in the Joint
Ministerial Decree (SKB) of 3 Ministers on National Holidays and
Collective Leave for 2026.

So, how many days is the Eid al-Adha holiday in 2026? Let’s take a
look again at the dates for the national holidays and collective leave
for Eid al-Adha 2026!

When is Eid al-Adha 2026?

Until now, the government has not issued an official announcement
regarding the date of Eid al-Adha 2026. This is because the date of Eid
al-Adha is still awaiting the results of the isbat session to determine
the beginning of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah, which considers the results
of hisab calculations and rukyat al-hilal.

Although there is no official decision yet, the Indonesian Hijriah
Calendar 2026 issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs estimates that
Eid al-Adha 1447 H will fall on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. This is also in
line with the estimated date for Eid al-Adha 1447 H by Nahdlatul Ulama
(NU). NU also uses hisab and hilal calculations to determine Eid
al-Adha.

On the other hand, Muhammadiyah has already set the date for Eid
al-Adha through an official decree. In the Decree of the Muhammadiyah
Central Leadership Number 2/MLM/1.0/E/2025 on the Determination of Hisab
Results for Ramadan, Shawwal, and Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 Hijriah, Eid
al-Adha falls on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.

How Many Days is the Eid al-Adha Holiday in 2026?

The government has set the schedule for national holidays and
collective leave for the Eid al-Adha 2026 celebration through the Joint
Decree (SKB) of 3 Ministers. This determination serves as a reference
for the public to arrange rest time, travel, or family activities during
the Eid al-Adha moment.

Based on that decision, there are two holiday days for Eid al-Adha
2026. These holidays consist of one national holiday and one collective
leave.
