Police have named a man identified as Herry Soekirman or HS (60) as\nthe suspect behind the production of forged driving licences for the\ndriver who killed 16 people in the Krapyak toll road crash in Central\nJava. Herry Soekirman is known to possess skills in information\ntechnology.<\/p>\n
\u201cHS completed an undergraduate degree at a private university in\nJakarta. So he has capabilities related to IT,\u201d said Semarang\nMetropolitan Police Chief Commissioner M Syahduddi during a live\nbroadcast on the Semarang Metropolitan Police YouTube account on\nWednesday (18\/2\/2026).<\/p>\n
Herry also taught himself editing techniques. He then produced forged\ndriving licences according to clients\u2019 specifications.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe self-taught himself editing techniques using Photoshop, which he\nthen used to create or modify driving licences according to the requests\nof people who contacted him,\u201d Syahduddi said.<\/p>\n
Herry is known to have carried out the scheme at least 10 times,\nproducing illegal driving licences on demand.<\/p>\n
\u201cBased on the suspect\u2019s confession, he has produced or edited driving\nlicences approximately 10 times according to the requests of various\nindividuals who contacted him,\u201d said Syahduddi.<\/p>\n
In this particular case, suspect Herry Soekirman altered the data on\na genuine driving licence to match the specifications requested by\nsuspect Gilang \u2014 namely a B1 General category licence. Gilang paid Herry\nSoekirman Rp 1,300,000 for the production of the forged licence.<\/p>\n
\u201cGilang, based on his confession, provided funds of Rp 1,300,000 for\nthe production of the illegal licence,\u201d Syahduddi said.<\/p>\n
Three individuals have been named as suspects in connection with the\nforged licence. In addition to Gilang and Herry Soekirman, a suspect\nnamed Mustafa Kamal has been identified for his role in facilitating and\nprofiting from the illegal licence scheme.<\/p>\n
As previously reported, investigators from Semarang Metropolitan\nPolice also named Ahmad Warsito or AW, the President Director of PT\nCahaya Wisata Transportasi, as a suspect in the Cahaya Trans bus\naccident case. Suspect AW is alleged to have failed to perform his\nsupervisory function over the company\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, suspect AW was aware that the bus did not possess a\nroute permit and lacked proper oversight, yet still authorised its\noperation despite staff and the head of company operations having\nreported that the bus lacked both a route permit and a monitoring\ncard.<\/p>\n
Police also urged transport owners, operators and route permit\nholders to guarantee the safety of passengers using their services, as\npassenger numbers on public transport are expected to surge in the\ncoming weeks during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming period.<\/p>\n
Police expressed hope that traffic accidents \u2014 particularly those\nresulting in mass fatalities among passengers \u2014 would not be\nrepeated.<\/p>\n
