In one such example Indonesia could\npotentially save up to Rp50 trillion (US$3.1 billion) annually by\nutilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to tighten controls on subsidized\nfuels, according to Maritime Affairs and Investment Coordinating\nMinister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. Speaking at the coordinating ministry\nbuilding in Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan, on Sunday,\nPandjaitan urged state-run oil and gas company PT Pertamina to continue\nleveraging advanced technology to ensure the accurate distribution of\nsubsidized gasoline. \u201cSubsidized fuels should only go to those who truly\nneed them,\u201d he emphasized. Pandjaitan praised the role of digital\ntechnology, noting that Indonesia has saved as much as Rp3 thousand\ntrillion (USD188.3 billion) by utilizing the government\u2019s digital\nprocurement platform, e-Katalog. In addition to AI for controlling\nsubsidized fuels, Pandjaitan also commended the Mineral and Coal\nInformation System for Ministries\/Institutions (Simbara), which has\nhelped the government increase revenue. Through an automatic\ndebt-blocking system, the government has collected Rp1.1 trillion\n(nearly US$68 million) in state revenue, he noted.\u201dThese examples show\nhow technology has greatly enhanced our budget efficiency,\u201d he remarked.\nEarlier, Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati highlighted that\nthe company has been using AI to manage its operations comprehensively,\nfrom upstream to downstream sectors. \u201cWe\u2019ve started using AI to process\nand analyze data quickly, enabling us to make more accurate decisions,\u201d\nshe said.With this advanced technology, Pertamina is able to process\ndata from approximately 15 million daily transactions of subsidized\nfuels.<\/p>",
