Housing project halted over permit<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The disputed construction of the Buaran Regency
\nhousing complex in East Jakarta has been suspended until the
\ndeveloper obtains the necessary permits, sources at the company
\nsaid yesterday.<\/p>\n
The developer, PT Agung Sedayu Metropolitan Development, has
\nyet to obtain the building and land use permits from the city
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
A marketing official who spoke on condition of anonymity
\ntold The Jakarta Post by telephone yesterday that the developer
\nwas now marketing some of the houses already completed but that
\nall building activities had been temporarily halted.<\/p>\n
The source said that the developer would continue the project
\nas soon as it had met with all the administrative requirements,
\nwhich the source said were \"being processed.\"<\/p>\n
\"There is no indication that we have problems about obtaining
\nthe permits,\" the source said, adding that \"everything is going
\nsmoothly\".<\/p>\n
The company suspended construction work following a strong
\nwarning from the city administration last week.<\/p>\n
\"It is a must for the developer to obtain the official
\npermits, otherwise the administration will take firm action
\nagainst it,\" said Idroes, the deputy governor in charge of
\ngovernment affairs.<\/p>\n
Besides the absence of the building permits, the city
\nadministration has also objected to the project on the ground
\nthat the company failed to report on its procurement of a land
\nuse permit from another company, PT Bhumyamca.<\/p>\n
Idroes said that such assignments require the governor's
