I am concerned with the social problems prevailing in our
\ncommunity. I deplore the Lebak Regent's policy of giving
\npermission to a developer to construct a housing complex in the
\nRangkasbitung district, Lebak Regency, West Java, because the
\ncomplex is built on productive land.<\/p>\n
This is in breach to the government regulation which
\nstipulates that productive land must not be turned to housing
\ncomplexes. With the construction of the housing complex, the
\nirrigation system in Rangkasbitung, which was built and financed
\nby the local government, does not functioning, which means a
\ngreat financial loss.<\/p>\n
The community is also suffering a great loss because the
\ndeveloper only paid Rp 5000 to Rp 10,000 per square meter of land
\nas compensation, which is far from the people's expectations. On
\nthe other hand the developer makes a great fortune from the
\nestablishment of the housing complex. How could the government
\nlet the people suffer this way?<\/p>\n
