House to select ad hoc supreme justices<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The House of Representatives' Commission II for legal
\nand domestic affairs approved on Thursday the nomination of 10
\npeople for human rights ad hoc supreme justice posts.<\/p>\n
A. Maskur Effendi, H.T. Bustomi, Sumaryo Suryokusumo, Edi
\nJunaidi Karna Sudirja, Poltak Sahatua Simanjuntak, Sakir
\nArdiwinata, Ronald Delfianus Titahelu, Lawan Bahtera Tarigan,
\nM.S. Lumme and B. Munajad were declared fit to run for the posts.<\/p>\n
The legislators left out former supreme court justice Adi
\nAndojo Sutjipto, criminal law professor Loebby Lukman, and police
\nofficer Sr. Comr. Munir from the selection process as they failed
\nto complete administrative requirements.<\/p>\n
\"But they will be allowed to undergo the fit and proper test
\nif they fulfill the administrative requirements by Sept. 25,\" a
\nHouse commission deputy chairman Hamdan Zoelva said.<\/p>\n
Former minister of justice Muladi, constitutional law expert
\nSri Sumantri and Sorta Simanjuntak had withdrawn from the
\nselection.<\/p>\n
The House commission will select at least three ad hoc supreme
\njustices due to their workload, Hamdan said. -- JP<\/p>",
