The leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI)\nheld a joint meeting with the government to discuss the acceleration of\npost-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra.<\/p>\n
The meeting was held at Nusantara IV, DPR Complex, Parliament,\nSenayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (18 February 2026). It was chaired by\nDeputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, with fellow Deputy\nSpeakers Cucun Ahmad Syamsurizal and Saan Mustopa also in\nattendance.<\/p>\n
Also present were the Head of the Government Task Force for the\nAcceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in\nSumatra, who also serves as Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian; Head\nof the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Lieutenant General\nSuharyanto; Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa; Health Minister Budi\nGunadi Sadikin; Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf; Public Works\nMinister Dody Hanggodo; Housing and Settlement Areas Minister Mauarar\nSirait; Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar; Primary and\nSecondary Education Minister Abdul Mu\u2019ti; Agriculture Minister Andi\nAmran Sulaiman; and Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia\nAdininggar Widyasanti.<\/p>\n
Also attending were Chairperson of DPR Commission X Hetifah\nSjaifudin, Deputy Chairperson of Commission X Lalu Hadrian, MY Esti\nWijayati, and Commission XIII member Rieke Diah Pitaloka.<\/p>\n
Dasco stated that the agenda for the day\u2019s meeting concerned the\nhandling of post-disaster recovery in Sumatra. He noted that in a\nprevious meeting, the DPR and the government had set a target for\ngovernment operations to be restored before Ramadan.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the coordination meeting on the handling of the aftermath of the\nflash floods in Aceh on 10 January 2026, there were several initial\nconclusions \u2014 firstly, that we targeted government operations across all\nareas of Aceh to be running again before the fasting month,\u201d Dasco\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd thankfully, from our monitoring, only very few areas are still\nexperiencing disruptions,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, he said his side had also been monitoring river\nnormalisation and infrastructure in previously isolated areas. At\npresent, according to him, there are no longer any isolated areas,\nparticularly in Aceh.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough the terrain is challenging, there are no longer any\nisolated areas, and river normalisation continues to this day,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
