Indonesia’s House of Representatives Deputy Chairman of Commission
XII, Sugeng Suparwoto, has affirmed that downstream processing policies
represent a strategic step aligned with the government’s major agenda to
drive national economic growth to 8% by 2029. “Downstream processing
policies are a strategic step to achieve 2029 economic growth,” Sugeng
stated during the Commission XII Hearing Meeting in Jakarta on Monday,
13 April 2026. According to Sugeng, downstream processing not only
increases the added value of mining commodities but also strengthens the
national industrial structure through integration from upstream to
downstream. He assessed that consolidation and synergy among mining
industry entities have shown positive results in maintaining production
and management in the sector. “Amid various mining industry challenges,
consolidation and synergy through diversification of mining products
have managed to demonstrate good mining production and management,” he
said. The House of Representatives also stressed that mineral resource
management must be carried out in an integrated manner to provide
long-term economic value. Additionally, strengthening governance is
considered an important factor to ensure the sustainability of the
mining sector amid global dynamics. On the same occasion, the Mining
Industry Holding MIND ID reported positive performance achievements
throughout 2025 despite facing global commodity price volatility. The
company recorded revenues of Rp159 trillion, EBITDA of Rp42 trillion,
and net profit of Rp29 trillion, all surpassing set targets. Entering 2026, the
company targets increases in production of several key commodities,
including coal, bauxite, nickel ore, and tin.
