It has touched\nthe sensitive areas of religion and business ethics, which we must\naddress seriously.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of\nRepresentatives (DPR RI), Kawendra Lukistian, has strongly condemned the\npromotion of the alcoholic beverage brand Newport at a music festival,\nwhich allegedly involved the recitation of verses from the Holy\nQuran.<\/p>\n<p>If the promotional material is proven to be true, he said, the act is\nnot merely a matter of marketing creativity, but touches on business\nethics, consumer protection, and respect for religious values and the\nsocial life of Indonesian society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it is true that Quranic verses were used to promote alcoholic\nbeverages, this is not just a wrong marketing strategy. It has touched\nthe sensitive areas of religion and business ethics, which we must\naddress seriously,\u201d Kawendra said in Jakarta on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf violations are found, do not stop at an apology or clarification.\nThere must be firm action and sanctions in accordance with the rules,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, he also asked the Ministry of Trade to evaluate the\nlicensing and distribution aspects of the related product if the\ninvestigation finds violations of applicable regulations.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the business world must indeed be given room to\ngrow and innovate.
