        "content": "<p>House criticizes mining regulation<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: House of Representatives Commission VIII on the<br>\nenvironment criticized on Tuesday government regulation in lieu<br>\nof law No. 1\/2004 on mining in protected forests.<\/p>\n<p>The commission said the regulation would only worsen the<br>\nenvironmental damage to protected forests.<\/p>\n<p>The regulation, issued on March 11 while the House was in<br>\nrecess, allowed 13 mining companies to resume their operations in<br>\nprotected forests. The companies had been forced to halt their<br>\nactivities after a new law was issued outlawing mining in<br>\nprotected forests.<\/p>\n<p>The criticism was expressed during a meeting between the<br>\nHouse commission and Minister of Justice and Human Rights Yusril<br>\nIhza Mahendra, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo<br>\nYusgiantoro and Minister of Forestry M.
