He believes the policy,\nbeing prepared through a draft Minister of Health Regulation (RPMK),\ncould trigger economic consequences, including a potential rise in\nunemployment affecting up to 6 million people. Misbakhun said the\ndiscussion of the policy cannot focus solely on health aspects. He\nstressed that the government must also consider the impact on the\ntobacco industry, farmers, the workforce, and state revenue. According\nto his records, the tobacco industry provides a fiscal contribution of\napproximately Rp221.7 trillion, with an economic chain value reaching\nRp300 trillion. \u201cThere will be unemployment for 6 million people, as\nmentioned earlier. Structural poverty will occur among domestic\nfarmers,\u201d Misbakhun said in a written statement on Tuesday, 28 July\n2026.
