House of Representatives Commission VIII is seeking to extend the\nsettlement period for Hajj costs for prospective pilgrims in 2027 to\naround five months. Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII Abdul Wachid said\nthe effort is intended to give prospective pilgrims more time to prepare\npayment for the Hajj travel costs.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will try to give prospective pilgrims room for a somewhat more\nrelaxed settlement period. So, at least there will be five months to\nprovide flexibility for prospective pilgrims,\u201d Wachid said during a\nworking meeting with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Jakarta on\nTuesday (18\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Previously, this year the settlement period given to Hajj pilgrims\nwas one month in the first phase, followed by one week in the second\nphase and three days in the third phase.<\/p>\n
To achieve a longer settlement period, Wachid said preparations for\nfuture Hajj operations need to be carried out more quickly, such as by\nstarting the formation of the House\u2019s Hajj Working Committee as soon as\npossible after the evaluation meeting on the Hajj financial\naccountability report has been held. \u201cNext, we will continue with the\nformation of the Hajj Working Committee,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Commission VIII suspended the evaluation meeting on the\nfinancial accountability report for the 1447 Hijriah\/2026 Hajj operation\nto give members time to study the report documents that had only just\nbeen received during the meeting. Abdul Wachid said the meeting would\nresume on Wednesday (19\/8) at 10.00 WIB after members were given the\nopportunity to examine the financial accountability report.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is for the improvement of the next Hajj and to safeguard the\nMinistry of Hajj and Umrah,\u201d Abdul Wachid said.<\/p>\n
