Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI)\ncarried out a recess working visit to Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh\nProvince, to inspect directly the construction of temporary housing\n(Huntara) for communities affected by flooding, while also evaluating\nthe contribution of state-owned construction firms (BUMN Karya) in\nsupporting accelerated post-disaster recovery.<\/p>\n
The field inspection was conducted to ensure that the construction of\nthe Huntara and its supporting facilities meets the needs of the\ncommunity, in terms of construction quality, completeness of facilities,\nand timeliness of project execution.<\/p>\n
During the visit, the Commission VI delegation toured the Huntara\nsite built in Aceh Tamiang. The evaluation formed part of the House\u2019s\noversight function over the implementation of government programmes to\naccelerate the provision of housing for residents who lost their homes\nto the floods.<\/p>\n
Commission VI member Subardi commended the government\u2019s steps in\nassisting flood victims in Aceh Tamiang Regency through the provision of\nHuntara, which he deemed fit for purpose and meeting the basic needs of\nsurvivors. He conveyed the appreciation after inspecting the Huntara\nduring the recess working visit on Wednesday (22\/7).<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my view, the government\u2019s role in easing the burden on the\nvictims is extraordinary. This is fit for family life, the facilities\nare complete, with sanitation and drinking water. Although these are\ntemporary buildings, they are adequate and comfortable \u2014 far better than\nliving in tents,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Director of Operations I at PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), Muhammad\nToha Fauzi, said the company is committed to supporting various\nstrategic government programmes, including accelerating disaster relief\nthrough the construction of quality infrastructure.<\/p>\n
According to him, the construction of the Huntara is part of efforts\nto provide facilities that are not only habitable but also deliver\ntangible benefits to the community during the recovery period.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe provision of Huntara is part of our commitment to supporting\npost-disaster recovery. We strive to ensure that every infrastructure we\nbuild is of good quality, completed on time, and beneficial to the\ncommunity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Huntara construction resulted from collaboration between\nDanantara Indonesia, BP BUMN, regional government, and the BUMN Karya\nconstruction firms to accelerate post-disaster rehabilitation in Aceh.\nThe project was executed with an emphasis on quality, punctuality, and\nadded value for the community.<\/p>\n
As part of the programme, 92 Huntara units have been built in Aceh\nTamiang Regency. In addition, the construction of a further 146 Huntara\nunits has been completed in Pidie Regency to support the temporary\nhousing needs of disaster-affected communities.<\/p>\n
Going forward, the company stated it will continue to strengthen its\ncontribution to national infrastructure development through the\napplication of innovation, Good Corporate Governance (GCG), and a\nculture of construction safety.<\/p>\n
