Commission III of DPR RI has requested a comprehensive evaluation of\nthe handling of the case involving Amsal Christy Sitepu by the Karo\nDistrict Prosecutor\u2019s Office. This step is taken as part of the DPR\u2019s\noversight function regarding fair and accountable law enforcement.<\/p>\n
The request is one of the conclusions recorded in the agenda of the\nHearing Meeting (RDP) and General Hearing Meeting (RDPU) of Commission\nIII DPR RI with prosecutorial elements and related parties. Chairman of\nCommission III DPR RI, Habiburokhman, emphasised that they have\nrequested the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision to immediately\nconduct an evaluation of the Karo District Prosecutor\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
\u201cCommission III DPR RI requests the Deputy Attorney General for\nSupervision to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the Karo District\nProsecutor\u2019s Office that handled this case and to submit a written\nreport within one month,\u201d said Habiburokhman in the Commission III\nMeeting Room, Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday, 2\nApril 2026.<\/p>\n
In the same forum, Commission III DPR also highlighted the alleged\nintimidation experienced by Amsal Sitepu in the case handling process.\nThe DPR has requested law enforcement officials to thoroughly\ninvestigate the allegation.<\/p>\n

DPR RI also requested further investigation into other alleged\nviolations by prosecutorial personnel, including the failure to\nimplement the determination of the Medan District Court panel of judges\nin the case. \u201cCommission III DPR RI requests the Deputy Attorney General\nfor Supervision to investigate alleged violations by personnel of the\nKaro District Prosecutor\u2019s Office, including the failure to implement\nthe panel of judges\u2019 determination,\u201d said Habiburokhman.<\/p>\n
This legislator from the Gerindra Party Faction also touched on\nallegations of efforts to build public opinion leading to accusations of\nDPR intervention in the legal process. Therefore, he emphasised the\nimportance of maintaining objectivity in law enforcement.<\/p>\n
To strengthen external oversight, Commission III DPR has requested\nthe Indonesian Prosecutors\u2019 Commission to conduct an examination of the\ncase. \u201cCommission III DPR RI requests the Indonesian Prosecutors\u2019\nCommission to conduct an examination of this case as material for a\ncomprehensive evaluation of prosecutorial performance,\u201d said the\npolitician from the DKI Jakarta I electoral district.<\/p>\n
He also emphasised the legal principle regarding acquittal decisions.\nMoreover, in the spirit of criminal procedure law reform, acquittal\ndecisions cannot be subject to further legal remedies.<\/p>\n
