The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission II has proposed that\nthe government revise the rules regarding the financial rights of\nregional heads and deputy regional heads. The commission suggests\nlinking their remuneration scheme to performance achievements to make it\nmore proportional and to reduce the potential for corruption.<\/p>\n
Rifqinizamy Karsayuda, Chairman of Commission II, stated that the\nfinancial rights of regional heads and their deputies are currently\nstill governed by Government Regulation (PP) Number 109 of 2000. He\nnoted that this 26-year-old regulation needs to be adjusted to reflect\nthe evolving duties of regional heads.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we also encourage a reformulation of the financial rights\nof regional heads and deputy regional heads to be proportional and based\non performance achievements,\u201d Rifqi said at the parliament complex in\nSenayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (30\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n
He expressed hope that the new scheme would reward well-performing\nregional heads while also evaluating those who fail to meet targets.\n\u201cUltimately, one of our goals is to minimise the potential for abuse of\nauthority, including corruption,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
The Nasdem Party politician added that the formulation of the new\nremuneration scheme would be left to the government. He hopes the new\nregulation will provide fairer and more proportional financial\nrights.<\/p>\n
Previously, the Association of Indonesian Regency Governments\n(Apkasi) also proposed an adjustment to the financial rights of regional\nheads.
