        "content": "<p>Hotels told to be more professional<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Governor Surjadi Soedirdja urged hotel staff to<br>\nincrease their professionalism yesterday and prove they are as<br>\ngood as expatriates, particularly in managing star-rated hotels.<\/p>\n<p>At the opening of the city-owned four-star Cempaka Hotel<br>\nSurjadi said he was proud that the hotel was managed by local<br>\nstaff, which he said is rare among similarly rated hotels.<\/p>\n<p>\"But the management must also... erase the image that<br>\nIndonesians are often considered wasteful, undisciplined and<br>\nincompetent in planning.\"<\/p>\n<p>Or, he said, planning may be excellent, but implementation and<br>\nsupervision are lacking. Other shortcomings are inappropriate<br>\ntolerance and hesitancy when correction and criticism is needed<br>\nof peers or superiors.<\/p>\n<p>The Cempaka Hotel on Jl. Jend.
