Hotels offer discounts on holidays<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Many starred hotels in the city are offering
\nspecial room rates during the last days of the Moslem fasting
\nmonth of Ramadhan.<\/p>\n
The Moslem festival Idul Fitri will fall on Friday and
\nSaturday and the city administration has predicted that over two
\nmillion people will leave Jakarta to celebrate the holiday in
\ntheir hometowns.<\/p>\n
As a result, many hotels in the city will face low occupancy
\nover this weekend and are offering special prices to Indonesian
\ncitizens and working visa (KIM-S) holders, to persuade people to
\nspend Idul Fitri in the hotels.<\/p>\n
\"This happens every year and during this year's Idul Fitri I
\nestimate the occupancy rate at this hotel will drop to about 50
\npercent,\" Harti Hadikusumo, public relation manager of Le
\nMeridien Hotel on Jl. Jend. Sudirman, Central Jakarta, said,
\nadding that from early this month until last Monday the hotel's
\noccupancy rate had remained normal at about 87 percent.<\/p>\n
Harti added that Le Meridien hotel was offering a special
\nLebaran package from Feb. 24 to March 12, in which its charges
\nwill be US$100 per night for single\/double deluxe rooms.<\/p>\n
Harti hopes Jakartans who have to spend Idul Fitri without
\ntheir servants will spend their weekend at the hotel.<\/p>\n
Public relations manager of Grand Hyatt Hotel, Retna Purbo,
\nsaid the occupancy rate at the hotel during this weekend will
\ndrop to 50 percent from its usual rate of 70 percent.<\/p>\n
She said the hotel is offering a special rate for its standard
\nrooms of $159 per night from Feb. 28 until March 12.<\/p>\n
The Jakarta Mandarin Oriental hotel in Central Jakarta is
\noffering a special price from Feb. 17 to March 11, during which
\nperiod guests will pay $110 per night for a deluxe room and $140
\nfor a Mandarin Oriental Club room.<\/p>\n
\"Every year, the occupancy rate at this hotel drops during
\nRamadhan and this year we predict the rate will drop to about 20
\npercent from its usual rate of 80 percent,\" said Riana Djudzman
\nof the hotel's public relations office.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Borobudur Inter-continental hotel on Jl.
\nLapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, is optimistic that its
\noccupancy rates will not drop because it is offering a special
\nprice for its rooms of Rp 250,000 (US$115) per night from Feb. 17
\nto March 11. Usually the price of a room at the hotel is $190 per
\nnight.<\/p>\n
\"Many people have booked rooms in this hotel for the weekend,\"
\nthe hotel's public relations officer, Hardiyanti Wulandari, said.<\/p>\n
The packages provided by the hotels include several
\ncomplimentary services such as breakfast and fresh fruit. (yns)<\/p>",
