Hotel shooting still a mystery<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): North Jakarta Police detectives are baffled by
\nlate Sunday's shooting that shattered the glass entrance doors of
\nthree-star Hotel Ancol on Jl. R.E. Martadinata.<\/p>\n
\"There's no progress from the police about the shooting,\" the
\nhotel's on-duty manager, Sofwan, told The Jakarta Post on
\nTuesday.<\/p>\n
North Jakarta Police chief Lt. Col. Wisjnu Amat Sastro said a
\nday earlier that his office was awaiting results from the
\nNational Police Forensics Laboratory on two bullets found at the
\nsite.<\/p>\n
\"We're still waiting for the results. So there's no progress
\non the case at the moment,\" officer Wisjnu said.<\/p>\n
Police confiscated the two CIS bullets shortly after the
\nshooting occurred at 11 p.m. on Sunday.<\/p>\n
The officer said the bullets were mostly used by bird hunters
\nin air rifles.<\/p>\n
Wisjnu suspected the culprits were youngsters who took
\npotshots at the hotel while driving on the toll road in front of
\nthe hotel.<\/p>\n
He said his officers were told by hotel management that there
\nwere no labor disputes or problems with business rivals which
\ncould have led to the shooting.<\/p>\n
\"The management also told us that there were no recent
\nemployee dismissals at the hotel,\" Wisjnu said.<\/p>\n
Nobody was hurt in the shooting, but the bullets shattered the
\n10-millimeter-thick glass door.<\/p>\n
Hotel security guard Pendi Wahyudi said he believed the shots
\nwere from a passing gray Kijang van.<\/p>\n
Hotel employees and frightened guests scattered in panic after
\nthe incident.<\/p>\n
Pendi told a local daily that he tried to calm guests by
\nsaying the damage was caused by a drunk guest.<\/p>\n
\"But the incident has not affected our business at all,\"
