        "content": "<p>The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) in Banten has\nstated that some visitors have cancelled their room reservations due to\nthe eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau. PHRI claims misinformation has\ncaused fear among potential guests.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Because it was exaggerated by some unclear information, it\nultimately had a bit of an impact on guests who had already booked in\nthe Anyer Beach area,\u2019 said PHRI Banten Treasurer, Herlina, on Thursday\n(9\/7\/2026). \u2018From information shared by colleagues, there are several\nhotels that have had bookings cancelled, even though a deposit had been\npaid,\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n<p>According to Herlina, some visitors have also rescheduled their trips\nwhile waiting to see the condition of Mount Anak Krakatau. She\nemphasised that despite the eruption, conditions along the coast remain\nsafe. \u2018Some have changed their dates, saying they will come once it is\nsafe. But it actually is safe, even though there is an eruption,\u2019 she\nsaid. \u2018It is far away. The material also falls into the sea.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, she noted that the number of cancellations is less than\n10 per cent and that tourist areas in Anyer remain busy. \u2018From what I\nsee, during this holiday period it is fine, everything is crowded,\u2019 she\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, an officer at the Mount Anak Krakatau Observation Post,\nAnggi Nuryo Saputro, stated that the current potential for a tsunami is\ndifferent from the 2018 event. The 2018 tsunami was triggered by a flank\ncollapse of Mount Anak Krakatau, which caused the mountain\u2019s height to\ndrop from around 338 metres above sea level to approximately 157\nmetres.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018According to experts in Bandung, the potential is different from\n2018. Back then, the height was around 330 metres. Now it is 157. So the\ntsunami threat is not like 2018,\u2019 Anggi said. He confirmed the potential\nis currently small. The status of Mount Anak Krakatau remains at Level\nIII (Alert), with fluctuating activity. \u2018Sometimes it goes up, sometimes\ndown. Today there have been no eruptions. Yesterday there were seven,\u2019\nhe said.<\/p>",
