The increase was\nprimarily driven by the school holiday season, which boosted domestic\ntourism activity.<\/p>\n<p>PHRI Secretary General Maulana Yusran stated that during the school\nholidays, several tourist destinations recorded a surge in hotel\noccupancy rates of 20-30% above regular levels. \u201cWhen we talk about the\nsecond quarter of 2026, we are looking at up to June, which still\nincludes the school holidays. During this period, there was a spike in\nholidaymakers in several regions. So, in some areas that are always\ntourism targets, occupancy could increase by at least 20% or 30% from\nregular levels,\u201d Maulana told CNBC Indonesia on Monday (3\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the impact of the school holidays made the hotel\noccupancy performance in the second quarter of 2026 better than the\nprevious year. Although official data for the second quarter has not yet\nbeen released, PHRI estimates that occupancy rates have risen. Maulana\ndetailed that throughout April and May 2026, hotel occupancy had already\ngrown by approximately 2% compared to the same period last year.\nMeanwhile, June is expected to record higher growth due to the\nadditional boost from the school holiday season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn April and May, there was growth in 2026 compared to 2025, at\nleast around 2%. The first quarter of 2026 was\nhelped by the Eid holiday, and the second quarter, especially June, was\nsignificantly boosted by the school holidays,\u201d he stated.
