Public anxiety has climaxed as pornographic video compact
\ndisks (VCDs) are widely circulated in the city. The police should
\nseek ways to deal with this problem after the recent drive
\nagainst steamy pictures.<\/p>\n
As reported in the media, it seems difficult to eradicate smut
\nbecause as soon as one place is raided, another opens. Security
\nofficers are also apparently halfhearted in their attempts to
\nstop smut.<\/p>\n
Under a flyover in Cawang-UKI, East Jakarta, for instance,
\npornographic VCDs are openly displayed and sold starting from the
\nafternoon, attracting the attention of youths and students. This
\nwill create morality problems marked by uncontrolled behavior and
\nother deviations.<\/p>\n
As an educator I feel disturbed by this fact. It is hard to
\nimagine what will become of our younger generation unless the
\ncirculation of pornography and drugs is stopped.<\/p>\n
