President Prabowo Subianto hosted a state banquet for President of\nthe Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady\nElke B\u00fcdenbender at the State Palace in Jakarta. During the banquet,\nPrabowo praised Germany as a centre of innovation and spoke about\nIndonesia\u2019s third president, B.J. Habibie, who studied extensively in\nGermany.<\/p>\n
Prabowo initially conveyed his appreciation for the bilateral\nrelationship between Indonesia and Germany. According to Prabowo,\nGermany holds a strategic position for Indonesia and has provided\ntangible benefits.<\/p>\n
\u201cI appreciate the warm, open, and productive discussions we have had\ntoday. Ladies and gentlemen, Germany holds a special place for\nIndonesia. Over 74 years, our diplomatic relations have delivered\ntangible benefits to our people, making Germany one of our important\npartners in Europe,\u201d Prabowo said.<\/p>\n
Prabowo then praised Germany as a source of inspiration for\nIndonesia\u2019s development, particularly in innovation and technological\nmastery. He noted this was reflected in the many Indonesians who have\npursued education and training in Germany, including Habibie.<\/p>\n
\u201cGermany has consistently been a source of inspiration through\ninnovation, technological advancement, discipline, and a strong respect\nfor rules and institutions. Many Indonesians have studied and received\ntraining in Germany. The third president of Indonesia also had a long\nexperience of studying and working in Germany,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
In connection with this, Prabowo expressed hope that the partnership\nbetween Indonesia and Germany could continue to be strengthened across\nvarious fields. On this occasion, the President also shared his personal\nexperience of undergoing training in Germany in 1981.<\/p>\n
\u201cI personally can attest to this strength because I myself underwent\ntraining in Germany in 1981. I hope your visit can further strengthen\nour cooperation, especially amidst the current global dynamics and\nuncertainties,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Prabowo also emphasised Germany\u2019s important role in introducing\nIndonesia to the international community, including through academic\ncircles since before Indonesia\u2019s independence.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, although both countries will soon celebrate 75 years of\ndiplomatic relations, the roots of our relationship were actually\nestablished long before Indonesia\u2019s independence,\u201d Prabowo remarked.<\/p>\n
Closing his speech, he expressed appreciation for President\nSteinmeier\u2019s visit to Indonesia and hoped the friendship and cooperation\nbetween the two countries would continue to grow in the future.<\/p>\n
